Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, on Monday inaugurated 2 design science secondary schools in Kogi State, applauding Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his administration’s commitment to advancing education. The freshly inaugurated GYB Model Science Secondary Schools lie in Nagazi, Adavi City Government Area, and Okebukun in Kabba-Bunu LGA. Speaking at the occasion, Alausa explained the jobs as a reflection of visionary management and a strategic financial investment in the future of youths.

“Your Excellency, I commend your visionary management and commitment to rearranging education as a main pillar of development. This project is not just a school, however a symbol of hope and an intentional investment in the future of our young people,” the minister stated.

Alausa also highlighted essential education reforms by the Kogi State Federal government, including the implementation of totally free education, payment of external evaluation costs, and the facility of three totally recognized universities. He kept in mind that the state assigns over 30 percent of its annual budget to education, going beyond the UNESCO advised standard of 26 percent.

The minister further commended President Bola Tinubu for continuous reforms in the education sector, especially the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which he said has benefited over one million students with loans going beyond N1.1 billion. He added that more than 160,000 youths have also been trained in digital skills nationwide.

According to him, the Federal Government is prioritising science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, together with technical and employment training and digitalisation.

In his remarks, Governor Ododo described the inauguration as a turning point in the state’s education advancement drive.

“Today marks a defining step in protecting Kogi’s future through purposeful investment in education,” the guv stated.
