
The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Education, Professor Bidemi Bilkis Lafiaji-Okuneye, has prompted final-year students of the institution to be worthy ambassadors of the university and uphold worths that will boost its track record after graduation.
She provided the charge throughout an interactive session with 400-level students hung on June 10, 2026, at the Multimedia Complex of the Vice-Chancellor’s Workplace as part of activities marking the trainees’ Last Year Brethren (FYB) event.
The trainees, led by the Performing Dean of the Trainee Affairs Workplace, Dr. Dawodu Rasheed Adegbenro, checked out the university management to bid farewell as they prepare to complete their academic programs.
Addressing the trainees, Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye commended them for their durability, commitment, and commitment throughout their academic journey. She motivated them to preserve good conduct, avoid social vices, and use the knowledge acquired at the university to make meaningful contributions to society.
She likewise worried the value of security awareness, prompting the students to stay watchful and report suspicious activities.
“Be concentrated on your research studies in the staying days as LASUED trainees. Don’t relent in your efforts to reach higher heights beyond your degrees, and stay watchful about your environment due to the security challenges affecting the country. If you see something, say something,” she stated.
The Vice-Chancellor revealed complete satisfaction with the organized conduct of the trainees during the FYB celebrations, attributing the success of the occasion to the efforts of the university’s Security Unit and Student Affairs Office.
In a major announcement, Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye revealed that LASUED would hold its first convocation ceremony this year given that achieving university status. She added that graduating students would receive their certificates on the same day as the convocation.
She further praised the Federal government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for initiatives targeted at enhancing access to college, especially through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund plan.
Previously, the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Dawodu Rasheed Adegbenro, admired the Vice-Chancellor for her leadership and dedication to trainee well-being. He also recommended students to confirm details associating with the university before sharing it, cautioning against the spread of misinformation.
Speaking on behalf of the finishing trainees, Taiwo Samuel Abidemi of the College of Humanities Education (COHED) revealed thankfulness to the university management for providing a favorable knowing environment and approving approval for the FYB event.
He guaranteed the management that the graduating class would stay accountable, disciplined, and law-abiding up until the completion of their research studies and beyond.
