The Federal Ministry of Education has bid farewell to its Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, following his appointment as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF).
Enitan’s departure marks the end of his 17-month period at the Federal Ministry of Education.
At a handover ceremony in Abuja, Enitan revealed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, for the opportunity to serve in the ministry.
Assessing his period, the former Permanent Secretary commended directors and personnel of the ministry for their professionalism and dedication to advancing education and human capital development.
He prompted them to support stability, responsibility, teamwork and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, while emphasising the requirement for data-driven decision-making and sensible management of public resources.
Enitan also encouraged personnel to welcome lifelong knowing, mentorship and constant enhancement, stressing the value of delivering measurable results for Nigerians.
As part of the handover process, he moved the ministry’s functional documents to the Director of Standard and Secondary Education, Dr Folake Olatunji-David, who will supervise the Workplace of the Permanent Secretary in an acting capacity pending the consultation of a substantive Permanent Secretary.
Olatunji-David pledged to sustain the ministry’s accomplishments through connection, partnership, team effort and efficient service delivery.
The Federal Ministry of Education congratulated Enitan on his new national task and expressed self-confidence in his continued support for the education sector.
