The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has urged students throughout the country to make integrity their assisting principle, stressing that corruption can not be eradicated without a strong culture of sincerity and accountability.
Olukoyede made the call on Friday during an interactive session with members of the Stability Club at Anglican Ladies Grammar School in Abuja.
Represented by the Head of Radio at the EFCC, Deputy Leader of the EFCC, Nwanyinma Okeanu, the anti-graft chief said stability stays one of the core worths supported by the commission and is vital for personal and nationwide advancement.
“We are here to motivate you and advise you that integrity is something the EFCC holds dear. If you don’t have integrity, you won’t go far in life. Stability must be the watchword in whatever you do, and it must start with you,” she said.
Okeanu informed the students that stability is important to building a brighter future and rebranding Nigeria, prompting them to make their parents happy by striving for quality and ending up being accountable residents.
“The future of Nigeria begins now, and it begins with you. Aim greater and become individuals of stability,” she included.
She also encouraged the trainees to stay good ambassadors of their school and households by spreading out the worths of integrity wherever they discover themselves.
Speaking at the occasion, the Head of Knowledge and Reorientation at the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, Aisha Mohammed, educated the students on the commission’s required and functions.
Mohammed described that the EFCC’s obligations include the prevention, investigation and prosecution of corruption-related offences, keeping in mind that the Integrity Club initiative was designed to impart ethical values in youths.
She urged the students to prevent jeopardizing activities online, cautioning versus sextortion and other kinds of internet-related abuse.
“I congratulate you for becoming part of the Integrity Club. We are here to speak about stability at this early stage of your life because you are the future of Nigeria. We expect you to be determined to change the story since integrity starts with you,” she stated.
In her remarks, the Head of the school’s Stability Club, Maton Dorcas, revealed appreciation to the EFCC and the school management for arranging the engagement, explaining it as impactful and informing.
She guaranteed the visitors that members of the club would put the lessons discovered throughout the session into practice.
