Public and approved independent schools throughout Lagos resumed on Monday for the 3rd term of the 2025/2026 scholastic session, as top government authorities carried out tracking check outs to evaluate compliance with standards and readiness.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, along with the Permanent Secretary, Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, led teams to arbitrarily picked schools throughout the state. They commended school administrators for sticking to the Unified School Calendar and maintaining orderly resumption.

Speaking during the workout, Alli-Balogun prompted instructors and stakeholders to prioritise effective knowing and discipline throughout the term.

“We should make every effort to develop the future, for just then will we enjoy its benefits. The learning period should not be jeopardized; every minute needs to count for you, teachers,” he stated.

The commissioner also called on moms and dads and guardians to stay actively involved in their children’s education.

“Create a relationship with the school so that obedient and devoted children are turned out,” he added, while stressing the value of preserving safety and regulative standards.

He further encouraged trainees to remain concentrated and disciplined, and recommended school principals to handle available resources prudently to match government efforts.

In her remarks, Dokunmu-Adegbite invited trainees, teachers, and non-teaching personnel back to school, keeping in mind that turnout on the very first day was encouraging.

“The turnout of both instructors and students is good and reveals alignment with government policies and programmes,” she said.

She also advised students, particularly those getting ready for the West African Senior School Certificate Evaluation (WAEC), to stay committed to their studies.

“Students must devote more time to their studies in this last term and give the state the very best WAEC lead to the country,” she mentioned.

The irreversible secretary repeated the state federal government’s zero tolerance for bullying and harassment, in line with the policies of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and encouraged school authorities to keep precise presence records and ensure prompt beginning of academic activities.

The monitoring visits covered schools including Ijeshatedo Junior and Senior Citizen Secondary School, Sanya Main School in Surulere, and Agidingbi Technical College, among others.

The Ministry of Education reaffirmed its dedication to continuous monitoring and support for schools to guarantee quality education delivery in line with international best practices.
