
The Lagos State Government has actually formally started the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme, Associate I, as part of its sustained drive to empower youths and take on unemployment across the state.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Wealth Production and Work, has effectively onboarded individuals drawn from all five IBILE departments– Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe. The onboarding event was held at the Sam Shonibare Auditorium in Surulere, marking a substantial action in the state’s workforce advancement agenda.
The TVET program is developed to gear up beneficiaries with practical, market-driven skills in areas such as mixology, cosmetology, graphic design, phone and computer system repairs, photography, and video modifying. The training is expected to boost employability while also motivating entrepreneurship among participants.
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Lolade Aina, who represented the Commissioner for Wealth Production and Work, Hon. Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe, highlighted the importance of the program in addressing unemployment and bridging the abilities space in Lagos.
“The TVET program is a strategic response to unemployment and the widening abilities space. It is an important element of this administration’s effort to empower youths with practical, marketable abilities that align with current market demands,” she said.
She even more noted that the initiative lines up with the state’s styles Plus Program, particularly in promoting economic growth and social addition.
“This initiative shows our dedication to inclusive advancement. We are guaranteeing that youths from all IBILE departments have equal access to life-changing opportunities that will allow them to flourish and contribute meaningfully to the economy,” Aina included.
Individuals will undergo intensive hands-on training under the guidance of skilled instructors in fully equipped facilities, placing them for real-world chances upon completion.
The launch of the first associate marks a significant milestone in the Lagos State Government’s more comprehensive technique to construct a skilled and self-reliant labor force, with beneficiaries revealing optimism about the programme’s capacity to change their futures.
