
OJO, LAGOS STATE– Marking a historical milestone in its 10-year journey, Lillyland Schools, Iba, effectively staged its inaugural Inter-House Sports Competition on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
The occasion, held at the prestigious Lagos State University (LASU) Sports Centre, saw Green House, commonly called WATSEE, become the general champions following a dominant screen across numerous track and field events.
The first edition was characterised by high-octane competition and a vibrant atmosphere, as pupils from the 4 contending homes contended for top honours in front of an audience of parents, educators, and neighborhood leaders.
Green Home protected the leading area on the podium with an excellent haul of 15 gold medals. Yellow Home followed carefully as the very first runner-up, showcasing exceptional consistency across the board, while Blue and Red Houses positioned third and fourth, respectively.
The Head of Schools, Pastor (Mrs) Thecla Ogwumike, provided the overall winners’ trophy to Green Home amidst cheers from the “WATSEE” supporters.

In his keynote address, the Chairman of Lillyland Schools, Mr Emmanuel Ogu Oparah, explained the competitors as a crucial shift toward structure durability and management abilities in the students.
He stressed that the primary objective of the occasion was to foster unity and healthy competition rather than just the pursuit of medals.
“Whether you win or not, involvement, integrity, and team effort are the true success,” Oparah stated, prompting the children to bring the lessons discovered on the field into their scholastic and individual lives.
He also paid a moving tribute to his other half, Lillian Oparah, recognizing her as the visionary behind the school’s facility and its years of development.
The event was more than a school-specific competition; it served as a regional event, attracting involvement from 7 other schools within the Iba area.
This welcomed competitors added depth to the track events and reinforced the ties between Lillyland and neighbouring educational institutions.
