The Senate of Bayero University Kano has approved the expulsion of 171 students for presenting falsified admission qualifications, following an internal investigation into irregularities in entry certifications.

The choice was reached during the institution’s 433rd Senate meeting hung on March 4, 2026, after deliberations on the findings of the Senate Committee on Entry Credentials Irregularities.

Details of the development were consisted of in a declaration published in the university’s weekly bulletin on Friday, which suggested that the affected trainees were found to have sent forged documents throughout the admission process.

The university explained that the misbehavior contravenes its scholastic regulations, particularly arrangements that recommend expulsion as the penalty for falsification of admission records. It added that the trainees involved were drawn from various professors and levels within the institution.

According to the statement, the relocation forms part of ongoing efforts by the university to preserve the credibility of its admission system and guarantee the stability of its scholastic records.

In a separate case, the Senate also approved the expulsion of a trainee, identified as Yusuf Muhammad Sani of the Department of Civil Engineering, over declared involvement in the assault of invigilators during an evaluation.

The university kept in mind that the incident disrupted the conduct of the evaluation and made up a breach of its disciplinary code.

Management declared its stance on no tolerance for academic misbehavior and indiscipline, warning that infractions of institutional guidelines would continue to draw in rigorous penalties.
