      The University of Ilorin, UNILORIN, has revealed the call for applications into its postgraduate programs for the 2026/2027 academic session.

      The admission covers PhD, MPhil/PhD, MPhil, Master’s, and Postgraduate Diploma programmes. Candidates are anticipated to check out the advert thoroughly before starting; one wrong entry can affect the whole process.

      The postgraduate session runs for 12 calendar months, from 2 October to 30 September of the list below year. This period starts from the date of first registration.

      List of postgraduate programs

      PhD degree programs

      PhD programs are available to prospects with:

      • M.A, M.Ed, M.Eng, M.Sc, LL.M, or M.P.H
      • Minimum of 60 percent or CGPA of 4.0 on a 5-point scale

      Period:

      • Full-time: 36 to 60 months
      • Part-time: 48 to 72 months

      A thesis is needed at the end of the programme.

      MPhil/PhD programmes

      Candidates with:

      • 55.00 to 59.99 percent or CGPA of 3.50 to 3.99

      can make an application for MPhil/PhD.

      Duration:

      • 12 to 24 months (full-time only)

      Candidates may transform to PhD after assessment if they score a minimum of 60 percent at the end of the first session.

      MPhil programmes

      Prospects with:

      • 50.00 to 54.99 percent or CGPA of 3.00 to 3.49

      Period:

      • 18 to 24 months (full-time)

      A dissertation is required.

      Master’s degree programmes

      Master’s degrees consist of:

      • M.A
      • M.Ed
      • M.Eng
      • M.Sc
      • LL.M
      • M.P.H

      Period:

      • Full-time: 18 to 24 months
      • Part-time: 36 to 48 months

      All Master’s programs involve coursework and research study; an argumentation is needed.

      Postgraduate diploma programmes

      Available to prospects with 3rd Class honours degrees.

      General admission requirements

      Candidates must:

      • Have all entry certificates all set before application
      • Have NYSC discharge or exemption certificate dated on or before 30 September 2026
      • Submit applications online with scanned qualifications

      Applicants should also have 5 O’Level credit passes, consisting of English Language and Mathematics, acquired in not more than two sittings.

      Candidates who obtained O’Level results before 2015 might have a pass in English or Mathematics depending on the programme.

      After finishing the online application, prospects need to submit:

      • Supporting files

      • Monday, 1 June 2026 to Friday, 5 June 2026

      Academic transcripts need to be sent out to the Head of Department where admission is sought. The university will not be accountable for misdirected transcripts.

      Additional requirements for particular applicants

      The application cost is:

      • N25,000 for Nigerian candidates
      • $200 for global applicants

      The qualifying evaluation is scheduled for Saturday, 13 June 2025.

      How to request UNILORIN postgraduate admission

      Applications need to be finished online. The due date for submission is Friday, 22 May 2026.
