
The University of Abuja has conducted an orientation programme for more than 700 students recently admitted into the IJMB and Therapeutic programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a statement issued by the organization, the University said the exercise was organised by its School of Advanced Basic and Remedial Studies to prepare the students for scholastic life and guide them on essential expectations within the University community.
The Vice-Chancellor, Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, who was represented by the Dean of Students Affairs, Simon Malang Kawe, urged the students to remain disciplined and concentrated on their scholastic objectives.
“Admission into the University’s main programs will depend upon satisfying the needed scholastic requirements,” he stated, motivating the trainees to stay committed to their studies.
Earlier, the Acting Director of the School, Angela Oboh, discussed that the orientation programme was created to assist trainees on essential issues that would impact their stay within the University.
“The orientation was arranged to guide trainees on crucial concerns affecting their stay within the University neighborhood,” she stated.
According to the University, the event united employee from critical units of the institution to engage the trainees in conversations aimed at promoting discipline, awareness, and scholastic excellence.
The emphasize of the program was a keynote lecture titled “The Influence of Peer Group Pressure on the Nigerian Kid,” delivered by Otaki Osana Alanana of the Department of Sociology.
