
Journalism student Sophia Buschhorn won in the category “Best Contribution under Four Minutes” with a piece on the topic of femicide. Under the title “When females are eliminated because they are females”, she reported on a femicide that shook Dortmund, revealing the impact such criminal offenses have on a city and its individuals. In its declaration, the jury emphasized that Buschhorn was successful in informing the story sensitively and with journalistic precision: “With impressive original noise bites and an atmospheric soundscape, the author handles to be extremely near the people without appearing voyeuristic. The result is radio that moves, informs, and demands obligation– locally rooted, yet of international significance.”
For his coworker discussion about the so-called “Rocktutorium”, journalism trainee Lennart Thomas received the reward in the University classification.
