President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in Oyo State and ordered the implementation of a specialised security unit with innovative rescue abilities following the abduction of teachers and students from 3 schools in Oriire City government Area.

The directive was divulged on Sunday by governmental representative, Bayo Onanuga, after a high-powered Federal government delegation checked out the Esiele and Yawota communities where the abduction happened on May 15, 2026.

The victims were supposedly kidnapped from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Main School, and L.A. Primary School, an event that triggered nationwide concern and prompted swift intervention from the Presidency.
