
LAGOS, NIGERIA– James Hope University has actually held a strategic conference with the Lagos State Ministry of Tertiary Education as the institution prepares to commence operations in Lagos, with conversations focused on programmes, capacity advancement and cooperation with the public service.
The meeting, held with authorities of the ministry, offered an opportunity for the university to provide its programmes and explore locations of partnership that might support abilities advancement and enhance efficiency within the state civil service.
The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Adeniran Kasali, commended James Hope University for developing programmes targeted at addressing modern academic and labor force needs.
Kasali urged the institution to develop more public service-oriented programmes capable of responding to the needs of the 21st century and contributing meaningfully to the state’s education and labor force advancement program.
“Come out with public service-oriented programmes that will meet the 21st-century demand. This will also reveal that you are contributing meaningfully to the system,” he stated.
Ministry Pledges Assistance
Kasali said the ministry would embrace a strategic approach to preparing with the organization, stressing that reliable preparation would be necessary to accomplishing significant outcomes.
“We are going to be tactical, preparing right now because if you prepare successfully and efficiently, it will yield a great outcome,” he said.

He assured representatives of the university of the ministry’s support and challenged the organization to remain ingenious and remain ahead in developing programs that react to emerging workforce requirements.
University Prioritises Capacity Development
Speaking on the institution’s vision, the President and Vice-Chancellor of James Hope University, Prof. Olu Akinkugbe, stated the university’s focus extends beyond granting academic qualifications to establishing useful skills that can enhance employability and workplace performance.
“We are more about capacity advancement in this age; it’s not simply a certificate we approve, but the skills we impart. The world today is moving from a knowledge-based economy to a skills-based economy,” Akinkugbe said.
He described that the university’s programs are structured as skills-to-employment paths developed to gear up students with competencies pertinent to the demands of the modern workplace.
“All our programmes are designed in such a way that they are skills-to-employment programs,” he stated.
According to him, the engagement with the Lagos State public service was aimed at showing how the university’s programmes might support upskilling and capacity advancement among employees and add to improved performance.
