The Federal government has reaffirmed its dedication to changing Nigeria’s education sector by deepening partnership with the UK to expand access to quality education, enhance abilities advancement, and draw in foreign investment.
This was divulged during a meeting between officials of the Federal Ministry of Education and a delegation from the UK Department for Business and Sell Abuja.
The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, stated the federal government is prioritising the establishment of respectable global schools within Nigeria to make globally competitive education more accessible.
“We are prioritising the facility of reputable international schools in Nigeria to offer globally competitive education locally and minimize the cost of studying abroad,” Alausa stated.
He noted that Nigeria’s growing population and increasing need for quality education present considerable opportunities for financiers, especially in cities such as Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kano, and Kaduna.
According to him, “Nigeria’s population and increasing demand for quality education present strong investment opportunities,” adding that the federal government is dedicated to creating an enabling environment through policy reforms and enhanced administrative procedures.
The minister likewise highlighted ongoing reforms in the sector, including increased school enrolment and the growth of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes.
He stated, “We have actually expanded TVET programmes, consisting of complimentary technical education and stipends for students, to enhance skills development throughout the nation.”
Likewise speaking, the Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Said Ahmad, worried the value of sustained worldwide cooperation in achieving long-term educational objectives.
