Guv Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has guaranteed locals that the safety of students and staff stays a leading concern following the short-lived relocation of students from Our Woman of Apostles Girls Grade School, Ijebu-Ode, due to a methane gas contamination event.
Speaking during an assessment see to the school, Abiodun stated “initial examinations verified the presence of methane gas within the area, necessitating the moving as a preventive procedure to safeguard lives and home.”
The governor explained that the state government is teaming up with appropriate companies and environmental specialists to determine the source of the gas emissions and carry out procedures to prevent a reoccurrence.
He noted that early findings suggest the incident is a natural incident instead of an outcome of any purposeful human activity.
Abiodun assured parents, guardians, and citizens that students would only return to the school after the environment has been completely assessed and certified safe for scholastic activities.
The state federal government, he added, stays dedicated to ensuring the well-being of all affected students and personnel while examinations continue.
