The Lagos State University(LASU), in cooperation with the National Universities Commission (NUC), has actually arranged a three-day TETFund-funded capacity-building programme to equip its academic personnel with ingenious approaches to teaching entrepreneurship.
The training, held from July 27 to 29 at the Senate Chamber of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Structure, Main School, Ojo, focused on the effectuation technique to entrepreneurship education, uniting members of the university’s scholastic community to enhance teaching and learning.
Speaking at the opening event, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Teacher Oseni Taiwo Afisi, described the programme as a prompt intervention aimed at reinforcing entrepreneurship education in Nigerian universities.
He stated entrepreneurship extends beyond organization development, noting that the effectuation method gears up speakers with practical techniques to help students believe artistically, fix problems, make notified decisions under unpredictability and identify chances.
Afisi expressed self-confidence that the training would enhance teaching approaches and much better prepare graduates to create value, create work and contribute meaningfully to nationwide development.
The programme featured sessions assisted in by Dr. Abubakar A. Adamu of the University of Maiduguri and Dr. Bola Olufunke Jenyo of the Federal University of Health Sciences, who exposed participants to the concepts of effectuation, including the Bird-in-Hand, Affordable Loss, Lemonade, Patchwork Quilt and Pilot-in-the-Plane principles.
Participants also took part in useful workouts, case studies, tests and interactive discussions designed to deepen their understanding of entrepreneurship teaching and encourage the application of the ideas in the classroom.
At the close of the program, Dr. Adamu advised individuals to welcome the entrepreneurial principles in both their mentor and professional lives, worrying that entrepreneurship education should remain practical and action-oriented.
Representing the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Dr. Samuel Asesanya commended participants for their commitment throughout the training and revealed optimism that the programme would even more enhance entrepreneurship education at LASU.
Speaking on behalf of the individuals, Professor Uche Ebele of the Lagos State University College of Medication (LASUCOM) appreciated TETFund, the National Universities Commission and LASU for organising the training, stating the understanding gotten would enhance entrepreneurship teaching and practice across the institution.
