The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Gashua, Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam, has explained regular scholastic workshops as essential platforms for scholars to exchange concepts, present research study findings and establish useful solutions to societal difficulties.
Teacher Geidam made the remarks while declaring open a one-day seminar organised by the University’s Professors of Farming in Gashua on Monday, August 3.
He stated the effort marked another step towards strengthening research, innovation and academic excellence at the organization, urging faculties and departments to sustain similar intellectual engagements to improve teaching, finding out and social work.
Discussing a paper entitled “Urban Forestry: Opportunities and Prospects in Gashua,” presented by Professor Johnson Sunday Alao, the Vice-Chancellor stated the discussion lined up with the University’s FUGA Green Code (FGC) effort, which promotes environmental sustainability through tree planting and the advancement of a greener campus.
Previously, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Bulama Ali, said the workshop was organised to provide a platform for academics and researchers to ponder on modern concerns in farming and college. He expressed optimism that the program would become a routine forum for creating ideas capable of driving national development through research study and innovation.
In his discussion, Teacher Alao highlighted the ecological, economic and eco-friendly advantages of metropolitan forestry, promoting increased financial investment in tree planting and green infrastructure as useful procedures for combating climate change, maintaining biodiversity and promoting sustainable metropolitan development.
A 2nd presentation, entitled “The Function of a Head of Department in Tertiary Institutions,” was delivered by Teacher Dattijo Aminu, who took a look at the leadership, administrative and academic responsibilities of Heads of Department. He stressed that efficient departmental leadership requires accountability, transparency, teamwork, efficient communication and dedication to institutional goals.
Talking about the presentation, the University’s Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Mamuda, stated the paper highlighted the duties of not just Heads of Department however also level coordinators, administrative officers and support staff, urging department leaders to foster team effort and purposeful management.
The University Librarian, Dr. Adam Saleh Gambo, also required the correct documentation and conservation of papers provided at workshops and workshops, keeping in mind that they function as important academic resources for future research study and reference.
The seminar drew in deans, directors, heads of departments, scholastic and non-academic personnel, scientists and students, who explained the maiden edition as a substantial contribution to the University’s growing culture of scholarship, research study and intellectual engagement.
