The Oyo State Cops Command has confirmed the release of the headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye, in Itesiwaju Local Government Location, Mr. Matthew Kolawale Owoade, who was abducted by shooters over the weekend.
Cops spokesperson CSP Adewale Osifeso divulged that the 60-year-old teacher regained his freedom following coordinated security efforts. He added that the victim has since been reunited with his family.
Owoade, commonly called “Onaiye,” was reportedly kidnapped on Saturday evening while returning from his farm in the Budo Aare area of Itesiwaju City government Location. The kidnappers were said to have later on contacted his household, requiring a ransom of 30 million for his release.
His disappearance triggered a search by loved ones and residents, throughout which his motorbike was found deserted in a nearby bush.
Verifying the current development, the cops stated examinations are ongoing to identify and collar those responsible for the kidnapping, while urging homeowners to remain alert and continue to support security agencies with reliable info.
