The Kebbi State Government has maintained that schools closed due to relentless bandit attacks will not resume till authorities are persuaded that students and teachers can return safely.
The government made its position known in a statement issued on Thursday by the Unique Consultant to the Guv on Communication and Technique, Abdullahi Idris, stressing that the closure, which has lasted about seven months, was a security-driven decision instead of a political one.
According to the declaration, the afflicted schools will remain shut till the dominating security challenges are adequately addressed, adding that the administration hesitates to expose students and education employees to risk.
The federal government also dismissed attempts to link the issue to politics, alleging that certain individuals and groups connected with the African Democratic Congress were utilizing social media projects to press the state into resuming the schools.
It insisted that the defense of lives would remain a priority, keeping in mind that no quantity of public or political pressure would force the administration to make choices capable of endangering schoolchildren and instructors.
