His daddy, James Brown Jr., said discipline and effort were worths he tried to impart in his kid from an early age.
“I started working at 4 years old in tobacco with my household and I’ve simply always worked. If you do not work, you don’t consume,” his dad stated.
But James’ journey was not without challenges. In 4th grade, he battled with mathematics, but with tutoring and determination, he enhanced significantly and later on made the A/B honor roll.He also faced heartbreaking minutes. In January 2024, when his grandma died in a house fire. Despite the catastrophe, James still demanded going to school the next day because he believed she would have wanted him to keep pushing forward.
“He said, ‘I promised my grandmother that I would do well in school which’s what I’m going to do,'” his mother, Annetta Brown, said.Another time,
after dislocating his shoulder while playing basketball, James went back to school the very next morning after getting treatment at the hospital.Beyond his household
support, James said his faith remained among the most significant sources of strength throughout his life.”My mother taught me to pray before leaving the house every early morning,” he shared.Outside academics, James also balanced work and entrepreneurship. He works
part-time at a movie theater and owns a shaved ice and kettle corn business called”What’s the Scoop? “where part of the earnings supports church missions.His school officials described him as a rare trainee with remarkable discipline and leadership qualities.”They say that kids these days don’t have the drive,”said Daryl Woodard, head of Wilson Preparatory Academy.
“He proves that incorrect. He has proven to be trustworthy, responsible and respectful.” Assessing his journey, James motivated other students never to give up on themselves.”
