Salihu clinched the leading prize at the grand ending of the competitors held on Monday in Abuja after beating 24 entrants from numerous universities throughout the country.
The debate, themed “Speak. Act. Defend. Rights,” concentrated on promoting discussions around human rights, civic engagement, and social obligation amongst young Nigerians.
Speaking after her victory, Salihu attributed her success to months of devotion, extensive research study, and rigorous preparation.
According to her, the journey to the champion involved sleep deprived nights, comprehensive training, and individual sacrifices.
“It took a great deal of sleep deprived nights, research study, training, and sacrifices. I am just thankful all of it settled and I could bring the glory home,” she stated.
In addition to Salihu’s specific triumph, the University of Abuja likewise emerged total winner of the competition with a cumulative rating of 86.1 points, finishing ahead of six other finalist organizations at the grand finale.
Speaking at the event, the Country Director of Amnesty International Nigeria, Isa Sanusi, said the competitors was designed to promote a healthy culture of debate, dialogue, and vital engagement among students.
He added that the effort also intended to raise awareness on problems associating with human rights and encourage young people to become advocates for justice and responsibility in society.
