The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has participated in a strategic Memorandum of Comprehending (MoU) with Commit Innovation & Consult Limited (CTCL) to accelerate digital literacy and incorporate civic education into Nigeria’s national worth orientation structure.

The arrangement, checked in Abuja, was executed on behalf of NOA’s Director-General Lanre Issa-Onilu by David Akoji, Director of Special Responsibilities and States Operations, while Niran Oyekale signed on behalf of the technology company.

The collaboration develops an across the country partnership aimed at providing digital skills training, accreditation, and civic education to millions of Nigerians, aligning with the country’s target of attaining 70 percent digital literacy by 2027 and preparing citizens for active involvement in the digital economy.

“This partnership develops a nationwide collaboration to provide digital abilities training, accreditation, and civic education to millions of Nigerians,” the statement stated.

According to the statement, the initiative will be implemented across Nigeria’s 36 states and 774 local government locations, with an enthusiastic goal of training and accrediting at least one million youths annually and reaching 20 million digitally literate and civically accountable youths by 2030.

“The collaboration will train and license a minimum of one million youths every year, positioning Nigeria to satisfy its nationwide advancement targets,” it added.

The programme is created to integrate digital literacy with civic education and national worths, promote responsible digital citizenship, broaden access to worldwide recognised certifications, and improve youth employability, entrepreneurship, and performance, while supporting Nigeria’s digital governance and economic diversification program.

“The partnership represents a transformational nationwide initiative to integrate digital literacy with civic duty and prepare Nigerians for the needs of the contemporary labor force and digital society,” the declaration kept in mind.

Execution will begin with pilot tasks in 6 states representing the country’s geopolitical zones, followed by a phased across the country rollout, consisting of the establishment of Digital Literacy Centres within NOA workplaces to work as neighborhood hubs for training, certification, and digital engagement.

“The effort will also develop Digital Literacy Centres nationwide and deploy digital learning platforms, alongside nationwide sensitisation projects and stakeholder engagement,” the declaration said.

The partnership is expected to enhance digital capacity, promote civic obligation, and create sustainable paths for youth empowerment and financial development, reinforcing a shared dedication to developing a digitally empowered and values-driven Nigerian society.
