Trainees representing Education District IV have emerged leading entertainers at the recent Food and Nutrition Competition organised by the Home Economics Teachers Association of Nigeria (HETAN), showcasing extraordinary culinary and dietary competence.
The competition, which combined participants from the six Lagos State Education Districts, was designed to promote healthy consuming practices, imagination, and useful abilities among students. It also acted as a platform for students to demonstrate competencies in food preparation, health, nutrition, and presentation while cultivating team effort and healthy competition.
At the end of the keenly objected to event, a duo from Ansar-Ud-Deen Senior High School, Surulere, representing Education District IV, clinched first position. The trainees, Odeyinka AbdulSalam and Mbam Chimdalu Doris, stuck out for their impressive discussion, imagination, and in-depth understanding of nutrition.
Speaking throughout a courtesy check out to the district headquarters, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Bamidele Paseda, applauded the students for their impressive performance and for making the district proud.
“This accomplishment is a testimony to the quality of teaching and the commitment of our students. Home Economics remains important in gearing up young people with vital life abilities,” he stated.
The winning students presented their award to the district management and took part in a picture session with the Permanent Secretary, marking a happy moment for both their school and Education District IV.
The HETAN competitors was widely considered a success, further strengthening nutrition education and motivating active participation in Home Economics across Lagos State schools.
