DUTSIN-MA, KATSINA STATE— The Senate of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) has authorized the rustication of 20 students following their involvement in various acts of assessment malpractice.

The choice was formalised throughout the organization’s 138th Routine Senate Meeting, held this week at the Twin Theatre of the primary school.

The disciplinary action, which works from the 2nd semester of the 2025/2026 academic session, underscores the university’s commitment to preserving academic integrity and the sanctity of its degrees.

The Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of the Senate, Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman, stated that the rustication was performed in rigorous accordance with the university’s recognized policies.

Specifically, the Senate conjured up Area 13.3, Subsection 13.3(c) of the FUDMA policy on evaluation irregularities and scholastic misbehavior to settle the penalties.

The university’s Director of Info and Procedure, Nasiru M. Abdul, validated that the choice followed an extensive evaluation of the report submitted by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.

According to the university management, the rustication serves a double function: punishing the wrongdoers and serving as a deterrent to the more comprehensive trainee body. Prof. Othman emphasized that the institution would not tolerate any attempt to “cut corners” or disregard the rules governing assessments.

The Senate’s action becomes part of a wider effort within Nigerian tertiary organizations to fight the rising wave of scholastic dishonesty.

Prof. Othman urged the staying students to “brace up and do the needful” by concentrating on their studies and sticking to the ethical standards of the organization.
