Kids Without Borders Nigeria, in collaboration with Writinova and with assistance from Mr. Chidera Anushiem, has opened entries for the 2026
Chidera Anushiem Essay Competitors. The undergraduate essay contest is part of the group’s yearly International Day of the Boy-child campaign. It intends to promote intellectual engagement on essential social problems while offering young men in Nigerian universities a clear platform to write, believe, and compete.

Essay topic
This year’s subject is:
“Equality Begins at Home: How Family and Upbringing Forming Attitudes Toward Gender.”
Prizes and rewards
The competition uses cash prizes for the leading 3 winners:
- 1st location: N70,000
- Second location: N50,000
- 3rd place: N30,000
The top 10 participants will also receive mentorship chances and other awards. The leading 5 contestants will get alleviation rewards too.
Who can use
Applicants should be male undergraduate trainees in Nigerian higher organizations.
Each entrant needs to provide a legitimate student ID card or another ideal file that shows the student’s name, photograph, and organization.
Essay rules and submission guide
Entries must satisfy these conditions:
- The essay needs to be 800 to 1000 words.
- The file needs to not carry the entrant’s name or school.
- The document must consist of only the essay title and word count.
- Every submission should be original; plagiarised work will be disqualified.
- Entries must be sent out through the main submission link.
- Individuals need to follow @writinova and @boyswithoutbordersng on Instagram and upload proof throughout submission.
How winners will be picked
After evaluation, the organisers will shortlist the leading 10 essays. Selected writers will then participate in a conference, and the final winners will be picked from that group.
Who can not participate
Members of Kids Without Borders Nigeria and its school networks are not eligible for the competitors.
